Our Story

Who knew such a dynamic team of remodeling contractors Austin can always count on, would begin their journey at such a young age. For the owners of D&R Custom Remodeling, Diego & Raquel Rodriguez, the journey started in high school. Although the couple knew of each other, they never really became friends. Until… 10 years after graduating high school, the couple’s paths’ crossed again and the rest is history! Diego & Raquel quickly realized that their values and desires in life were the same. God, Family, Friends and Fun. The family enjoy traveling, skiing, camping, dancing and binge watching TV shows! Diego ran a 37-year-old family business which manufactured custom decorative glass products used in high-end retail and commercial spaces throughout the world. Raquel came from a corporate background involved in business development for a large magazine company out of NYC. Life was great! As their family grew, so did adventures and life experiences. Unfortunately, unforeseen circumstances followed – the magazine company went out of business and Raquel had to pivot, realizing the changes in NYC leading up to the pandemic, the couple decided life changes were necessary. After being in New York their entire lives, they decided to relocate to a state that was more in line with their values – a state that felt like home even though they were new. A place where they could raise their children without the worry of rising crime. A place where they can explore and be… kids. So sight unseen – and viola – they moved to Texas! Who knew it wasn’t just flat lands with tumble weeds everywhere but there are cities, lakes, parks and oceans with the nicest people ever!

Meanwhile, Diego traveled back and forth to NYC from Austin to continue to run the family business with the plan to eventually move permanently to Texas to join the family. He felt torn because of course he missed family and friends, but at the same time felt at home in Austin. Eventually, the couple sold the decorative glass products business. Diego and Raquel then decided to open a new business to support their family. With decades of experience dealing with architects and designers, along with the knowledge of construction, D&R Custom Remodeling was born! Acknowledging their blessings and skilled craftsmanship, experience, and an extensive knowledge in remodeling so many projects, they found a love of custom remodeling entirely from full home renovations to upscale kitchens. This is when D&R became the remodeling contractors Austin can always depend on.

Our Process

Step 1: Consultation

Let’s dive into what your needs and wants are. If you have a vision for this project that’s great! If you don’t, that’s ok too … we’ll help get you there. We’ll be taking measurements to be able to start on our next steps.

Step 2: Estimate

Next, you will receive a preliminary estimate. With this starting point we can narrow in on your budget and scope of the work. Our consultations and estimates are complimentary.

Step 3: Approval

Once the final plans are approved and the estimate is finalized, the invoice is created and a deposit is collected. Then materials are ordered, and a start date will be set!

Step 4: Start

Our team manages every detail of work from demo to the final punch list walk-through. Renovations can be stressful on homeowners, so we minimize this stress with frequent communication and check-ins.

Step 5: Project Management

We communicate daily and send weekly updates to all our clients. As changes happen, or any unforeseen things pop up, we handle it with ease and care.

Step 6: Finish

Once the items on the final punch list walk-through are completed, you can completely enjoy your kitchen, bathroom or entire house!
